Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS)

POTS is a type of heart disease that causes a person to periodically suffer from an abnormally large increase in heart rate, called tachycardia.  However, POTS is very unusual in that these episodes of tachycardia come and go, sometimes without obvious causes.  As a result, this condition is not always obvious and can be difficult to explain, or to prove to the Social Security Administration.  A person with POTS may very well seem perfectly healthy to an outsider.

Documentation, especially from your cardiologist,  is key to improving your chances of winning the Social Security disability (SSD) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits that you deserve.  In particular, records explaining the frequency of your tacycardia episodes, what causes them, and how they affect you are all crucial pieces of information.
